Meet the person behind AccountAble Academy
I'm Ben — a CPA for 10 of my 16 years in the accounting field, and the founder of AccountAble Academy.
Here's something most people don't know: I got a C in my first intro to accounting course. I almost wrote the whole subject off. A friend convinced me to give it one more shot with a different professor — and something clicked. I aced the class, and I never looked back.
That experience stuck with me. Because the truth is, I wasn't bad at accounting. I just hadn't had it explained in a way that made sense to me yet. And once it did, everything changed.
A few years ago, my sister-in-law called me, confused about some reports from her business. It was a classic case: her numbers said she was making money, but she wasn't seeing it in the bank account. She just wanted to understand why. That conversation stuck with me — and when I recently thought back on it, it's what pushed me to actually build this business, so I could help people like her, not just one phone call at a time.
I've always had a passion for helping people and for teaching. Pair that with my experience in the field, and AccountAble Academy was born — a way to give business owners the same "it finally clicked" moment I had, minus the C on the transcript.
And in the spirit of always being a student myself: right now, I'm teaching myself guitar. One day at a time, one clumsy chord at a time — the same way I'd encourage anyone learning their numbers to take it one step at a time too.
